🥄 Never Use Kitchen Spoons!
Kitchen spoons are NOT accurate. A "teaspoon" can vary by 50% or more between different spoons. This can lead to under-dosing or overdosing.
Always use the measuring device that comes with the medication, or ask your pharmacist for an oral syringe.
📐 Important Conversions
- 1 teaspoon (tsp) = 5 mL
- 1 tablespoon (tbsp) = 15 mL = 3 teaspoons
- 1 fluid ounce = 30 mL
⚠️ mL vs mg: These are different! mL is volume (how much liquid), mg is weight (how much medicine). Your doctor prescribes in mg, you measure in mL.
💡 Tips for Success
Shake well before measuring (medicine settles at bottom)
Draw up slowly to avoid air bubbles
Clean syringe after each use (warm water, air dry)
Use same device consistently for that medication
Don't mix devices from different products
