❓ Why Is It Prescribed?
Prednisolone is a corticosteroid (not an anabolic steroid!) used for:
- Croup - Barky cough with breathing difficulty
- Asthma flares - Severe wheezing episodes
- Severe allergic reactions
- Swelling/inflammation
💡 It's NOT the same as muscle-building steroids. This is a medication that reduces inflammation and is safe for short-term use in children.
😖 It Tastes Terrible!
Prednisolone is notoriously bitter. Tips to help:
Mix with something strong-tasting: Chocolate syrup, grape juice, or Nutella
Chill it: Cold liquids mask taste better
Quick chaser: Have favorite drink ready immediately after
Numb taste buds: Have child suck on ice chip first
Ask about Orapred ODT: Dissolving tablets may taste slightly better
